Bloomberg loses the GOP
I think the implications of this are deeper than anyone realizes. I think this may be a look at our future--a growing and meaningful independent movement. It would be nice if such an independent movement radically shifted our government to a group of secularly governing, practical, technology-oriented individuals that are not funded by American corporate bigwigs and the Military Industrial Complex. In other words, hundreds of independents throw the bums out and start our Congress and Presidency over with just our Constitution to prop them up--a brand new day.

Pinks, I think it is entirely likely that many overestimate the so-called future independent movement. Independents I know are largely indifferent and careless political spectators for whom voting is a bother. I'm sure there are swing-voters, but . . .
Where's decent a plumber when you need him? Don't forget, 3rd parties is how we ended up in this present toilet.
I think he would draw votes from the Republicans.
He is very appealing to a lot of Republicans because of his business interests and connections.
So I don't think a Bloomberg candidacy necessarily hurts the Dems.
Wouldn't it be funny if 3 New Yorkers ended up on the ballot?
I also think he'd draw a lot of Republicans sick of the right wing stuff--but on the other hand he'd also draw some of the business oriented, elite Democrats. The only people he won't pull from Democrats are probably the environmentalists, but I'm not sure what Bloomberg's record is on that. If he's enlightened there, he could be like Arnold, only saner, and that's a big draw. If that's true, he could win the whole thing. I was talking to a political expert the other night and he said the reason Guiliani is so popular is because the socially radical right wing really is in the minority, even among Republicans now. Was it Terry?
Bloomberg will pull votes from both sides. Remember he only ran as a Republican because the Democratic field was to crowed in New York.
Now he would like to run as a Independent because the Republican field is to crowded.
